Post How to use the Word Counting feature
If you click on the Memberlist button at the top of the screen, and then select yourself, you will see (on the right side) a description of the number of posts you have entered, the number of words, and the average per post.

While this might seem like only a curiousity feature, it is actually quite useful, because it can be used to track how often and how much you are writing, and how many words a particular post has.  Simply pay attention to the total words before and after you post a story.  If you want to check an ongoing story or post, again check the memberlist screen to see your current wordcount, then copy and paste the older post(s) into a new message in the test forum.  Once you save the new message go back to your memberlist profile view and the difference with the new wordcount will give you the words in the post you created.  Then delete the test post and in the memberlist profile, use the resync option.

You should click on the resync button and follow those instructions periodically, especially where you want an accurate count and have deleted or edited posts recently.

In addition to the above described word counter, at the bottom of the page when entering a post or mail, you can click the Count button after entering your post.

After clicking the Count button a window will popup and you can copy and paste your text into the Javascript box, then click the Count button and you will see an additional window that reports the number of words.

This particular word counter is less accurate than our overall counter but is more convenient for counting a single post or group of words.
